Takoradi, July 21, GNA - The Board of Governors and authorities of Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI) are setting up a committee to investigate Monday's demonstration by students over their teachers' poor performance.

Nana Kofi Adjei Imbeah, the Takoradi Metropolitan Educational Director, told GNA that the authorities were awaiting a report on the incident to determine their next line of action.

He said if the report showed that the students would not continue with the unrest, the promotional examination would be rescheduled for them to write but if it proves unfavourable the school would be closed down for vacation.

On the re-opening day the students would be requested to come along with their parents to sign bonds to be of good behaviour while a Parent/Teacher Association meeting would be held on the issue.

On Monday the entire 3,000 students embarked on demonstration, vandalizing louver blades, throwing stones and injuring some of the demonstrators.

Among their grievances were poor tuition, frequent teacher absenteeism from classroom and lack of learning materials.

Police personnel are still keeping guard at the compound.
