TUC Denies Merger With NDC

The Chairman and founder of the Traditional Congress Party (TCP) Mr. Anthony Toku has denied speculations that his party has merged with the National Democratic Congress(NDC).

"TCP denies any support, recognition and endorsement of NDC or any particular party against other parties", he said. He appealed to the electorate to vote for capable men and women who will work to improve the socio-economic standard of the people and the country.

"By voting for capable men and women the country will be saved from its political turmoil as well as its economic bankruptcy, he noted". According to the TCP founder political balkanisation, has plunged the country into economic disarray and called for a massive support from Ghanaians to bring a genuine change. He added that the struggle for political leadership among seasoned politicians in the country have put the welfare and needs of the people behind.

The TCP, he said is the only political party that has developed a comprehensive socio-economic programme centred on the needs of the people of Ghana and will not compromise it for anything.

Touching on the activities of the party, Mr. Toku said as a private sector party, it will give top priority attention to the development of the private sector of the economy by assisting indigenous entrepreneurs with short term low interest loans and tax differ payments. According to him, the major preoccupation of a TCP Administration will be to develop the private sector of the economy by helping to create over 500,000 new jobs for millions of Ghanaians who are unemployed.

Such new businesses he added, will be created in areas of technology, housing, education, agriculture manufacturing and processing industries. On agriculture in the TCP Administration, the Chairman hinted that his party will develop agriculture as a major economic mainstay of Ghana. "Our party has proposed a 10 year Agribusiness Development Plan (ADP) aimed at taking over the leadership as the world's largest and producer of cocoa and related products " he said.

On healthcare, Mr. Toku said the party would pursue a policy of primary healthcare to deal with preventive healthcare. According to him, Ghanaian Medical Doctors and other healthcare providers will be encouraged to establish their own private practice. He Founder of TCP called for calm during and further the generals elections adding that the TCP will be ready for the year 2004 elections.
