A group calling itself Dagbon Forum and some section of Ghanaians on social media have condemned the line of questioning by award-winning TV3 journalist Komla Klutse in an interview with newly-crown Ya-Naa Naa Abukari Mahama II, describing it as “disrespectful”.

In a statement released following the airing of the said interview, the group is calling on Komla Klutse to render an unqualified apology to Dagbon and the King.

“Dagbon Forum condemns in no uncertain terms the gross display of disrespect shown by Komla Klutse of TV3, when he interviewed Ya Naa Abukari II, at the Gbewaa Palace after the highly successful and historic coronation, on Saturday 26th January 2019.

Komla repeatedly asked the King if he had taste for finesse as shown in his reaction upon seeing the Jaguar car, donated by the Government, for the first time. He went further to hold the King’s hand, with emphasis on the Rolex watch he was wearing, again repeating the issue of his love for finesse.

Komla Klutse’s action was unprofessional, immature and showed total disrespect towards the Ya Naa, in terms of his status, age and the circumstances.

We request an apology and withdrawal of the offensive footage from all media outlets.

It is our fervent hope that future interactions by journalists with the the King of Dagbon will be more circumspect and decorous.” Their statement said.

While MyNewsGh.com is reliably informed the King himself is quite unperturbed about the development, social media users have a mind of their own.

In a related development, a former Deputy National Youth Organizer of the NPP, Salam Mustapha and other well-meaning Northerners have joined calls for an apology over the issue.
