The dusk till dawn curfew imposed on Tafo by the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has been extended to Monday, according to the Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu.

The curfew was imposed on Tafo following clashes between Muslims and non-Muslims in the area.

Some churches and a mosque have reportedly been attacked as a result of the clashes in Kumasi despite the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on the community.

It is unclear the name of the churches involved.

One person has been confirmed dead in the clashes. The 30-year-old Suleman died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

According to Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako Justice, the two groups are fighting over the cemetery in the area.

Speaking to Morning Starr host Nii Arday Clegg Thursday, Mr. Bonsu stated that the extension of the curfew will afford the Military and Police personnel enough time to maintain calm and order.

He added that the situation is currently under control adding that an amicable solution would be found for the problem between the two youth groups.
