Minister of Information, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has encouraged residents in the Volta Region and the country at large to support President Nana Akufo-Addo’s development agenda.

The minister was speaking at the launch of the 2018 Town Hall meetings at Dzodze in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region on Monday, 7 May 2018.

Town Hall meetings are a decentralised means of giving members and leaders of the various communities the opportunity to get together and discuss progress and emerging issues of both the central and local government.

In his opening address, Dr Abdul-Hamid reiterated government’s commitment in sustaining policies and initiatives that it has started, hailing them as the best-ever, compared to those implemented by former governments.

He said: “By the end of our four-year term, you’ll see, you’ll have to come to the conclusion, no doubt, that it is the best four-year government that you would have seen in the entire 1992 period to now.

“I want us to cast our minds back since the 1992 Constitution and to ask ourselves sincerely that if we were to take away all the things and the major programmes and policies that the NPP has put in place; that is, if we take away everything since 1992 that the NPP government of President Kufuor and Akufo-Addo have done for our country, you would realise that we’re the only government that when we come to power we progress the prosperity of this country.

“Let us cancel National Health Insurance Scheme, cancel LEAP, cancel School Feeding, cancel Capitation Grant, cancel Metro Mass Transit, cancel Free Senior High School and then now NaBCO. These things that make Ghanaians comfortable today were instituted only by an NPP government in this fourth republic.

“Today, all over the world, our National Health Insurance Scheme is being studied by nations across the world. People come to Ghana to study NHIS so that they can do same in their country. People come to study youth employment, it is NPP, people are talking all over the world today about Free SHS, it is NPP. So, let us support this president, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
