The court, presided by Mrs Justice Rita Abena Doko, remanded the accused persons to re-appear on September 9 for sentencing.

They pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Fuseini Yakubu, said Mariam is the wife of Haruna Dauda, the complainant, who is a driver residing at Adakope while Jeremiah Kitcher and Richard Kitcher are brothers staying at Apowa near Takoradi.

He said at about 11.30 a.m. on August 31 this year, Mariam left her matrimonial home for Takoradi and did not return.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said at 8.00 p.m. on September 2, Mariam telephoned the husband and told him that she had been kidnapped by some young men at Agona Nkwanta and the young men were demanding 1,200 Ghana cedis before they would release her.

He said Jeremiah Kitcher also called the complainant on his cell phone several times that if he did not deposit the money into his bank account in Takoradi, he would sell the wife to galamsey operators.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said the complainant agreed to pay the money and agreed to meet him to hand it over.

He said at 10.00 a.m. on September 5, the complainant met Jeremiah Kitcher at Apremdo to pay the money to him but he was arrested with the assistance of Police Patrol Team.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said a report was made to the police and Jeremiah Kitcher led the police to Apremdo and pointed out Mariam as his accomplice.

He said Mariam took to her heels on seeing the police but she was given a hot chase and arrested.

Chief Inspector Yakubu said Mariam admitted having planned the deal with Richard Kitcher who was her boyfriend in order to collect money from the husband.

He said Richard Kitcher was also arrested and after further investigations the accused persons were arraigned.
