Tamale Senior High School (Tamasco) has won the Tamale Teaching Hospital 50th anniversary quiz competition organized for selected senior high schools in the Northern Region.

Tamasco beat arch-rivals Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco), St. Charles Senior High Seminary-Tamale, and Tamale Girls Senior High School (Pagnaa) to win the competition.

The Tamale-based school, known for its performances at the National Science and Maths Quiz, won the competition and took home a cash prize of Gh¢3,000 plus dozens of exercise books, medals, and certificates.

St. Charles finished second, while Tamale Girls finished third, and they were awarded Gh¢2,000 and Gh¢1,500, respectively.

Ghanasco finished bottom of the competition and received Gh¢1,000.

The Public Relations Officer of the TTH, Zuberu Aliu, told journalists at the end of the quiz competition in Tamale that the competition was aimed at testing students’ knowledge about the history and development of the hospital.

He added that the competition was also part of the many activities earmarked to engage with the public, contribute to awareness creation about the anniversary, and provide a platform for students to showcase their intellect.

Mr. Zuberu commended all schools for participating.

He appealed to the general public to support the hospital as it aims to construct a new pediatric center to mark the anniversary.

Mr. Zuberu noted that the construction of the ultra-modern pediatric complex had become necessary as the hospital currently lacked such a center to provide the best child care for children.

He said the center, when completed, would go a long way toward reducing infant and child mortality rates in the Northern Region and Ghana.

The event was graced by the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Atik Adam, Chairman of the TTH Board, and Northern Regional Director of Health, among others.
