The Management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital has maintained it has paid all fuel allowances of doctors of the facility.

According to the management, the doctors are aware of the strenuous efforts made to respond to their demands and was, therefore, surprising to hear them resort to the media to seek redress.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the facility Mohammed Misbawu, payment of the allowances was made last Friday to the Hospital’s Account with the Tamale branch of the HFC bank and was expected to be credited to the accounts of the doctors who save with the bank.

He added that doctors who have their accounts with other banks were expected to receive theirs by close of Tuesday, May 24.

"By the close of work on Friday we had sent these monies to our account Holding Bank, HFC, Tamale Branch for them to credit the various accounts of those who qualify for that particular allowance.

Those who hold accounts with HFC, their accounts were expected to have been credited by the close of work on Friday but those who have accounts with some other Banks, because they have to go through the cheque clearing system, it is expected that their monies should hit their accounts in 72 hours," Misbawu told Starr News.

The move comes after doctors at the facility issued a notice last Friday threatening to withdraw service delivery at the Out Patient Department over the failure of management to pay their fuel allowances.
