Ms Freda Prempeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North Constituency, at the weekend cut the sod for the construction of 20 seater aqua privy water closet toilet and a mechanized borehole for residents at Aboaso and Subonpan communities respectively.

The two projects, estimated at the cost of GH?1.5 million, and expected to be completed within 11 months, are being financed by the MP.

Ms Prempeh said that the constituency was still undeveloped as most of the communities lacked basic facilities such as toilet and potable drinking water while almost all the road networks linking the various communities were in deplorable conditions.

She expressed concern that in many of the communities, residents defecate openly because of inadequate toilets while others who lacked potable drinking water had to depend on nearby streams.

Ms Prempeh said the construction of the projects were in fulfillment of her campaign promise to the people, and gave the assurance that she would do all things possible to address some of their basic needs.

She said though the MP's Common Fund for the first and second quarters of the year had not been paid, she would find alternative means to ensure that immediate needs of the constituents were provided.

At Aboaso, Mr Kenneth Adom Agyei, the Assemblyman appealed to the MP to assist the community to rehabilitate the only borehole and construct additional ones to meet the water demand needs of residents.

He commended the MP for the project and expressed the hope that such facilities would be constructed at the other surrounding villages.

Mr Sadiq Mohammed, Assemblyman for Subonpan, appealed for the construction of the Bomaa-Subonpan-Tepa road.

He said the poor nature of the road was the major concern of the people, as during rainy seasons, drivers refuse to use it.

Mr Sadiq commended the MP for helping the community to complete an abandoned CHIPS compound in the community.
