George Mireku-Duker, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency of Western Region, has distributed twenty (20) tricycles to some constituents on "work and pay basis".

The initiative by the MP is to boost the local economy of various communities within the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency.

An initiative is being carried out through SME development and by extension creating some jobs.

This is the first phase of the exercise with other phases scheduled for months ahead.

The first phase of the facility which is worth GHC200,000.00 thus, GHc10, 000.00 per tricycle is funded by Ahantaman Rural Bank under the auspices and guarantee of the MP.

The MP did the distribution immediately after breaking grounds for drilling and construction of four (4) mechanised boreholes for four Communities within the Constituency.

Handing over the keys to the beneficiaries, the MP who is also the Vice-Chairman on Mines and Energy in Parliament, disclosed that he would personally pay the interest charges on all the tricycles, which means that the beneficiaries would have to pay the face value of the tricycles only.

He promised that in the coming days, cars would also be given out to some Constituents on "Work and Pay Basis".

He also noted that plans were far advanced and underway to secure deep freezers and soft loans to support market women and other petty traders in the area.

Mr. Mireku-Duker humbly pleaded with the beneficiaries to honour the repayment schedule so that others could also benefit.

He therefore seized the opportunity to appeal to his Constituents to keep on having confidence in him and President Akufo-Addo and urged them to retain him and the sitting President to continue their good works.

On his part, the Business Development Manager of Ahantaman Rural Bank, Mr. Rashid Abrobrh eulogized Hon. George Mireku-Duker for taking such a giant step in helping his Constituents in a very sustainable manner.

He advised the beneficiaries to ensure they adhere to the repayment schedule after which they could apply for extra add-ons.

He disclosed that the initiative was an unprecedented move, and encouraged the MP to continue to assist his Constituents and also urged other MPs to emulate the exemplary leadership of the MP.

The beneficiaries who spoke to Daniel Kaku after the kind gesture hailed the MP for the support.

They said this was the first of its kind in the political history of Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency since 1992.

"We thank God for having a hardworking Member of Parliament and a stupendous President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo", they emphasized.

They also pledged to use the tricycles to achieve the intended purpose with the objective to pay back the money on schedule.
