The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Executives in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency of the Western Region have extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the late Dr. Kwabena Adjei, the former NDC National Chairman.
The former National Democratic Congress (NDC) national chairman passed away Tuesday morning after battling ill-health. He was 76.
In a statement issued by the party and signed by its Constituency Secretary, George Gadd sorrowful said "We pray that the good Lord himself finds you a place in his heavenly abode as you continue your next journey".
The statement added "We wish to express our condolences to the immediate family, the people of Biakoye Constituency, the great NDC family and the entire nation for such a loss".
The statement acknowledged "You served your party and country well in the best of your ability. Your illustrious service to the great NDC in various capacities, rising to become the Leader and Chairman of our party is a great source of inspiration for the younger comrades. We hope to be as dedicated to the course of the party as you were and to continue to pontificate the qualities and principles you stood for in the forward match of the party".
Dr. Kwabena Adjei until his passing was a member of the Council of Elders of the NDC, a former Member of Parliament for Biakoye Constituency, a Former PNDC Deputy Secretary for Volta Region and Former PNDC Deputy Secretary for Industries, Science & Technology.
He also served as a Former Minister for Lands & Forestry, Former Minister for Food & Agriculture and Former Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.
Mr. Adjei entered politics in 1978 and was elected as a Council Member of the Jasikan District Council in the Volta region.
He subsequently served as Member of Parliament for the Biakoye Constituency from 1993 to 1996. He was re-elected in 1996 and served in that position till 2004.
In that time, he served as First Deputy Majority Chief Whip from 1993 to 1994.
In 2005, he became the National Chairman for the NDC and served in that role till 2014.

TARKWA NSUAEM NDC MOURNS DR. KWABENA ADJEI
The Constituency Executives, Branch Executives, Council of Elders, Stakeholders and the entire members of the NDC in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency received with utmost shock and sadness the news of passing of the former leader and National Chairman of the great NDC Dr. Kwabena Adjei into eternity.
Even though we were aware of your ailment which took you to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital for medical attention, we were hopeful that the almighty God would heal and grant you the strength so you could join the leadership and the entire members of the party on our campaign in our quest to wrestle power from the incompetent, family and friends Nana Addo-Bawumia government.
It was our wish for you to live longer on earth despite your deteriorating health so you can continue to offer your priceless service and council to the party and the youth in our party as you have been doing all along.
The good Lord knows best and as to why he has called you for divine duties at this critical moment in the affairs of the party and as humans we cannot question his judgement.
We pray that the good Lord himself finds you a place in his heavenly abode as you continue your next journey.
