"Tarzan" Returns To VRA

Fri, 15 Aug 2003 Source: --

THE STATESMAN is reliably informed that the Government has decided on the return of the besieged CE of the VRA, Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby.

He is due to go back to his office Monday, August 18 after two different inquiries exonerated him of charges levelled against him by a section of employees of the VRA.

According to the DAILY GRAPHIC, a number of chiefs in the Eastern and Volta Regions have called on the government to allow the Chief Executive of the VRA, Dr. Wereko-Brobby to resume his legitimate functions in the interest of the nation.

According to them, any attempt by the government to heed to the demand of VRA workers will amount not only to a defeat on the part of the government but also set a bad precedent.

A press release issued by the chiefs after series of meetings, said Dr. Wereko-Brobby is the only CE, who has met chiefs and opinion leaders on his assumption of office to discuss problems of the people, affected by the construction of the Akosombo and Kpong dams, in the 40 year history of the VRA.
