Charles Wereko-Brobbey has finally thrown in his hat to contest for the position of National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in December’s election which will elect new National Executives for the party.
His inclusion brings the total number of aspirants for the position of National Chairman to 5. Sammy Crabbe, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Stephen Ntim and Felix Owusu-Agyapong are the people who have formally declared their intentions to contest for this position.
This decision by Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey, he says, was taken after weeks of consultation with some leading members of the party.
However, certain quarters within the party are sceptical about his loyalty to the party, after forming the United Ghana Movement (UGM) prior to the 2000 elections.
This argument is however defeated as Dr. Wereko-Brobbey served in various positions in the Kufuor-led NPP administration from 2001 to 2008.
His chances of winning are also being scrutinised as some party members are of the opinion that he has very little time to campaign and thus might not be able to catch up with the rest of his competitors.
