THE TEACHER Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) has threatened to embark on nation-wide strike action to back their protest against the sharp increase in examination fees.
Investigations have revealed that students are being charged ?220,000 as against ?140,000 paid last year.
The angry students who have not received their monthly allowance of ?200,000 for the past six months described the scenario as sheer wickedness and gross diplomatic extortion.
It is against this background that the Ashanti-Brong Ahafo branch of TTAG will soon embark on a peaceful demonstration to call home their demand after which they will boycott lectures and other curricular activities if the increment is not written off.
An interview with a representative of TTAG revealed that some principals have managed to collect the illegal fee from a section of the students not withstanding the hot protest against the fee increment.
Wesley College in Kumasi, however, led the protest on February 19, by embarking on a sit-down strike in protest against the fee increment.
