Teacher jailed for defiling minor

A 46- year- old teacher, Dotche Kossivi was on Thursday sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for having sex with a 13 year- old at Laterbiokoshie, a suburb of Accra.

Charged with defilement, Kossivi who pleaded guilty is said to have had sex with the victim through her vagina and anus thereby making the victim unable to sit down. The convict, offered the victim five kilograms of rice, after the act.

The Court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang Budu convicted Kossivi on his own plea.

The Prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah told the Court that Madam Agartha Sam, a trader was the complainant.

According to ASP Acquah both Kossivi and complainant reside in the same house at Town Council Line at Laterbiokoshie.

On May 26, the complainant detected that the victim was very dull and was behaving unusual.

ASP Acquah said the complainant questioned the victim over her attitude but she was reluctant to disclose anything to her.

According to ASP Acquah, the complainant informed a neighbour to find out from the victim what was wrong with her.

During the interaction, the victim disclosed that Kossivi has been having sex with her but this time round he extended the intercourse to the anus and could therefore not sit down.

ASP Acquah said a report was made to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at Mamprobi and the victim was issued with a medical form to visit the hospital for examination and treatment.

Later Kossivi was arrested.
