Renowned Educationalist, Anis Haffar, has reiterated the need for all teachers in the country to enjoy improved working conditions and livelihood as they play major roles in the strive for quality education.
He said there is also the need for the country to take a second look at how teachers are trained or prepared for the classroom, “traditionally, we prepare our teachers in lecture halls” Mr. Haffar said, “And I have been fighting against that for a long time” he said.
According to the Educationalist, trainee teachers only imbibe theories when their training take place in lecture halls.
“It is only at the school sites that you begin to see how these theories can be practiced and have meaning to the kind of things that we talk about” he said. He has therefore suggested that instead of lecture halls, trainee teachers should be taught at school sites.
Mr. Anis Haffar made these comments on the #InFocus segment of HSTV’s Morning Show,#HealthyMorning, talking to HSTV’s Cecil Lee Longdon about The state of Ghana’s Educational System and how it can be improved.
