The second edition of the Outstanding Teachers Summit (OUTS) was held at the Accra College of Education on June 12, 2024. The event gathered educators from across the nation to honor and celebrate the pivotal role teachers play in shaping society.

Dr. Maxwell Ampong, CEO of Maxwell Investments Group, highlighted the foundational role of teachers. "Teachers are the building blocks of society; everyone here has been supported by a teacher at some point. Building up a teacher only serves to build up future leaders," Dr. Ampong stated.

He also called for national support for events like OUTS, acknowledging their importance in elevating the teaching profession.

The summit, founded by Stella Gyimaah Larbi, Ghana’s Most Outstanding Teacher of 2022, and themed "Opening Doors of Possibility," seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry. It provides a platform for teachers to connect, share innovative practices, and discover new opportunities.

Larbi, an advocate for teacher and learner development, emphasized the need for teachers to adapt to the changing educational landscape and to collaborate with experts from various fields.

"Our vision is essentially to bridge the gap between industry and academia, to provide a platform for teachers to showcase their work. There are many possibilities and opportunities out there for teachers, but they often don't know how to access them. These platforms enable teachers to connect more effectively, get to know one another, and find opportunities for recommendations," Larbi explained.

Dr. Kimberly West, founder and president of Teach STEM Africa, also spoke at the summit, underscoring the significance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education.

"Improving STEM education is about enhancing the quality of life and ensuring that every student has the chance to succeed," Dr. West commented.
