Tepa (Ashanti Region), 12, Oct. '98 The Ahafo-Ano North District Education Office has organised a day's induction course for 36 newly trained teachers in the district at Tepa.

Among the topics discussed were conditions of service and professional code of ethics, teacher-community relationship, lesson notes and test construction.

Speaking at the ceremony, Miss Lydia Osei, District Director of Education, advised the teachers to establish good school-community relations in order to help parents to understand the importance of education.

She said it is through such a relationship that the community can contribute to the creation of an effective learning environment.

She assured the teachers that everything possible is being done to ensure that they receive their salary by the end of November.

Mr Charles Michael Boaten, Deputy District Director of Education, advised the teachers to keep on learning and eschew laziness, adding that the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) programme has no room for non-performing teachers.

The teachers appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the district assembly to establish a special education fund to assist the new teachers financially until they are paid. GNA/GRi
