DISCLAIMER-Teachers tell colleagues to stop striking

Our attention has been drawn to a certain publication in your esteemed social network –Ghana Web on 22nd March, 2013 chastising the leadership of GNAT, NAGRAT and TEWU over their strike action. This publication was attributed to Akansele Richard and Ken Oboma and others. We (Akansale and Oboma) wish to distance ourselves from the said publication as we have nothing to do with it. In their rush they spelt Akansale as Akansele.

We are highly disappointed that such faceless individuals could hide behind certain smokescreens to slur the hard worn reputation of others to advance their their purposes.

In the said publication, it was stated amongst other things that “the leadership of our unions has placed us all in an untenable disposition where their needs are been placed above the original concerns of teachers”. We have been teaching for over twelve (12) years now and have considerable knowledge of the dynamics of the teaching field in Ghana. We also know the efforts put together by our union leaders to secure,

• Professional allowance for all teachers

• Responsility allowance for teachers with additional responsibility

• Teachers migration to the SSSS

• University graduates being placed at principal superintendent grade

We firmly believe in the abilities of our union leaders.

We would be very grateful if you could kindly cause the publication of this rejoinder.

LONG LIVE THE TEACHER, EDUCATION AND GHANA.

Thank you.

Signed: AKANSALE RICHARD

KEN OBOMA
