Atobiase(Ash), Nov. 23, GNA - Teachers at the Adansi-Atobiase district assembly Junior Secondary School (JSS) in the Adansi South district have warned people who defecate along the main road leading to the school to desist from their unhygienic act. The teachers contended that the behaviour of these unscrupulous people posed a health hazard to both pupils and teachers. Speaking after the students had undertaken a clean-up exercise in the town to prevent a cholera outbreak, the teachers asked the chiefs and elders in the town to monitor the situation and arrest the culprits to halt the practice.
Mr Michael Asare, the school's health co-ordinator, said though there was no cholera outbreak in the town, it was important for their environment to be kept clean to prevent the outbreak of any epidemic. He advised the students to wash their hands thoroughly with soap after visiting toilets and before eating to avoid any infection and advised parents not to allow their children to eat cold foods. Mr Asare said in addition, they should cover their water containers at home and asked the school authorities to inspect uniforms, fingernails and hair of the students every morning before classes.
