Techiman-Ahenebronoso residents bag 22 million cedis for projects

Techiman (B/A), Dec. 23, GNA 96 Residents of Techiman-Ahenebronoso Electoral Area in the Techiman municipality bagged 22 million cedis at a fund raising rally towards the construction of a 10-seater water closet toilet and the extension of two public water stand pipes to the area. The rally coincided with the outdooring of Mr Unas Owusu, the new Assembly member for the area, who commended the people for their unity and cooperation.

He said the projects would cost 530 million cedis and appealed to the Municipal Assembly to support the people.

Mr Owusu advised the people to keep their surroundings clean to protect themselves against diseases.

Mr Abdul Karim Yusif, Municipal Environmental Health Officer, expressed regret about the lack of places of convenience in the area, which had made the people to defecate indiscriminately, exposing them to diseases.

He advised landlords to provide toilets and refuse disposal facilities in their houses to help check the practice and ensure proper refuse disposal.

Mr Addai Simons, MP for Techiman South, donated 10 million cedis in support of the project.

He expressed gratitude to the Assembly member for mobilizing the people to plan and undertake programmes that would help improve their living conditions.

Mr Mohammed Kwaku Doku, National Director of Network for Advocacy and Development, an NGO, who spoke on 93Religious and political tolerance=94, advised the people not to be divided by partisan politics as it could stall the development of the area.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman traditional area, in an address read for him noted that the work of assembly members was voluntary and called on the people to support them to serve well.

Mr James Opoku-Worae, Municipal Education Welfare Officer, who presided urged the people to maintain their love, unity and cooperation.
