The statement to member associations in the regions read
The National Executive Committee of the above association formally writes to inform your outfit of a declaration of an indefinite sit-down strike with effect from Wednesday, September 12, 2018
This action has become necessary due to the failure of the Ministry of Education (MOE) through the National Council for W Tertiary Education to adhere to our request to migrate us onto the conditions of service of public universities, and the National Labour Commission’s gross disrespect to the Technical University Teacher’s Association of Ghana after summoning us to a hearing scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, 2018 by a letter dated August 30,20l8 to deal with the matter.
We attended upon this summons. However, the NLC failed or neglected to sit to hear our case and left us stranded at the Commission. In view of this, we hereby declare an indefinite sit-down strike having followed the requirements of the labor laws of Ghana”.
