Teenager remanded for trading in tramadol

A 19-year-old electronics repairer suspected to be involved in narcotic trading has been remanded into prison custody by the Juaso Circuit Court.

Justice Boansi who pleaded not guilty to trading in controlled sedative drugs would reappear before the court on May 2.

Police Detective Inspector Princeton Peasah Dakwah, prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr. Yusif Asibey that the Municipal Police Command had embarked on a campaign to clamp down on the use of narcotics which had increased among the youth in recent times.

He said police intelligence suggested that the accused was involved in the illicit trade and arrested him on April 6.

Prosecution said the accused led the police to his house where three pieces of diazepam and an empty pack of tramadol, both controlled sedative drugs were retrieved after a search in the house.

He claimed ownership of the exhibit and mentioned one Tanko Mohammed as his source of supply in his caution statement.
