In order to foster peace in the Muslim community in the Tema metropolis, the office of the Imam of Tema Metropolitan has organised a reconciliation durbar.

Speaking on the theme; “Peace and Reconciliation,” the Tema Mayor, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, said there might be disagreements in human endeavours and diversity of opinions but when it deepens reconciliation must be sought to bring peace.

“Let us cherish the peace that we have and not wait till the cause of peace confronts us. Whatever it takes, its better we cherish peace,” he advised.

He advised the Muslim communities to consider diversity as their friend and let it be unique.

He added that no community develops without peace, saying “I call on Muslim brothers to ensure peace in Tema.”

The newly elected chief Imam, Adam Abubakari, admitted that enmity between relations was normal but must be resolved peacefully anytime it emerges.

Corporate Finance Manager of the Ghana United Nations Association (GUNA,) Vincent Amankwah, explained that wars and conflicts begin in the minds of men.

He noted that Ghana has distinguished herself from conflicts and war which make her envious of other African countries.

He therefore pleaded with them to help discourage war in society, adding that they should also not destroy what Allah has given them but work for justice.

For his part, Rev. Asamoah Mireku, who spoke on behalf of the former Inspector General of Police (IGP,) Peter Nanfuri, pointed out that peace requires a collective approach.

“Let’s start investing in peace so that all would live in peace. Let’s work and build our country Ghana,” the former IGP urged. .
