He stated that investigations by the Police led to the arrest of the two Nigerians, Maxwell King Chizoguzi, 30, and Onuoha Otisi, 35, at Lashibi.

The Regional Police Commander said the Police found in their possession a laptop, which they used for their nefarious activities, fake letter heads of some government institutions, including the Bank of Ghana, Treasury Department, the Ministries of Mines, Finance, the Interior, and Defence, the VAT and Internal Revenue Services, and the Office of the President.

ACP Gyening showed newsmen samples of the suspects' fake documents for observation.

On the five persons, including a lady, who were arrested for unlawful entry and stealing, the Regional Police Commander told journalists that they were caught stealing at the warehouse of Finatrade at Baatsona on the Spintex Road, behind the Coca Cola Bottling Company.

He said upon a tip-off, the Police laid ambush for the suspects, and at about 0145 hours on Tuesday morning, seven persons forcefully broke into the warehouse in a blue DAF cargo truck, and started loading sugar onto the truck.

ACP Gyening said when the police struck, 17 bags of sugar had been loaded onto the truck, but two of the thieves, including the driver of the vehicle, managed to escape, leaving the five.

He gave their names as John Amabila, 30, Abibu Ibrahim, 24, Yaw Eric 26, Kube Tesu, 22, and Efua Benewaa, 21.

On the third incident, ACP Gyening recalled that the Police on the 14th of July this year had an encounter with armed robbers on the Motorway in which one robber was shot dead and another injured but managed to escape.

He said, as a result, his outfit informed all medical facilities to report anybody with a gunshot wound to them.

ACP Gyening said about five days ago, his outfit received information that the alleged wounded armed robber, Mohammed Seidu, was hiding at Ashaiman Zongo.

Policemen, he said, were detailed to the place and Seidu was subsequently arrested together with three others, believed to be his accomplices.

He gave their names as Munkaila Yahaya, Issifu Musah and Charles Dikro.

ACP Gyening said, Seidu denied that his injury was from gunshot, and told the Police that it was rather due to a motor-bike accident.

According to the ACP, the herbalist, who was treating him, was on the run, and the Police were still looking out for him.
