Tema The Tema Branch of the State Insurance Corporation Ladies Association (SICLA) has presented 250,000 cedis worth of items to the Children's ward of Tema General Hospital to mark its 20th anniversary. The items include quantities of plastic plates/cups, laundry and toilet soaps, beverages, fruits and loaves of bread. Madam Adriana Otoo-Mensah, president of the association, recalled that this is the third donation to patients of the ward and promised to donate durable items to supplement the hospital's efforts. Madam Otoo-Mensah said the association has the plight of sick children at heart and so she asked the hospital administration to let them know their requirements so that "we plan towards assisting them''. Mrs Millicent Sarpong, principal nursing officer who received the gifts, appealed to other organisations to emulate the SICLA and assist the hospital because the Ministry of Health alone cannot shoulder all the responsibilities in view of its numerous commitments. She said durable items like bed sheets, mattresses, pillow cases and others are most appreciated to enable the patients to benefit more from them.
