Tema, Sept. 8, GNA - Eight students and two teachers from the Tema Secondary School and the Star Basic School have left Accra for the London Borough of Greenwich to participate in the launching of the Tema-Greenwich Foundation.
The Foundation is a charity to raise funds to support the establishment of a polytechnic and a community learning centre in the Tema Municipality.
Members of the group, which would be away for 10 days include Mrs Mabel Davis, a teacher of Tema Secondary, leader, Miss Nana Akua Abrafi Adjei, a teacher of Star Basic School, Miss Gifty Akonie and Miss Gertrude Tetteh, from Tema Secondary.
The others are Masters Jacob Debrah and Patrick Tawiah, from Tema Secondary School and Nana Atoo Oseiteh, Master Abdallah Ben Mohammed, Miss Evelyn Osei Agyeman and Miss Andaa Tonozie, from Star Basic School.
Mrs Davis said the students would participate in a seminar under the theme "the Youth and Challenges in the New Millennium". She said since Tema and Greenwich are on the Meridian line, the students would share their aspirations and exchange ideas to promote cultural, social and educational ties.
Miss Gifty Akoni said they hope to help in erasing the negative perceptions some Europeans have about black culture during the visit.
