The Police have arrested 10 people from the Danua Family in Sokpeyiri, a suburb of Wa, for fighting over the sharing of proceeds from the sale of land belonging to the family.

The land was allegedly sold for 700,000.00 Ghana cedis.

Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Danua, Head of the Danua Family, in sharing the money was alleged to have excluded Abudu Mumuni Saaba and his line of the family.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Wa, Detective Corporal Enoch Diawuo of the Wa District Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said the confrontation broke up when Saaba and his people demanded to know where they came from if they were not members of the Danua Family.

Upon that demand, Alhaji Danua then told them that their grandfather migrated from Burkina Faso to settle there, saying they were, therefore, settlers and not original members of the family.

Detective Corporal Diawuo said that answer then infuriated Saaba and his people resulting in the pelting of sticks, stones and cutlasses against Alhaji Danua and fracturing his two arms.

Alhaji Danua also sustained head and body injuries while his young grandson who was standing by him also got his head fractured from the attack.

Alhaji Danua was rushed to the Wa Hospital but was later referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital because of the critical nature of his condition, he said.

Detective Corporal Diawuo said the 10 people arrested had been arraigned and granted bail by a court.

They are to reappear next year on January 14.

He said the police were still intensifying efforts to arrest three others who escaped arrest.
