There have been reports of heightened tension in Yendi over an alleged raid at the Abudu Regents palace, Monday dawn by a joint military/police security team.

Hundreds of Abudu Youth massed up at the palace to resist any security threat.

It is unclear yet what necessitated the raid but information reaching Citi News from the community says the move is to prevent the Abudu Royals from climaxing this year’s Damba festival which comes off Thursday this week.

The Assemblyman for Gagbini electoral area in Yendi, Abubakari Nachin-Naa spoke to Citi News saying, “They just surrounded the palace to the extent of firing warning shots just to prevent us from celebrating the Damba festival, that is the strategy they are using.”

He recalled bitterly, “This is not the first time, they have ever attacked the Boling-Lana’s palace.”

Abubakari Nachin-Naa said the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, Issah Zakariah should be blamed for any untoward situation in Yendi.

Angry Abudu youth at the palace indicated their readiness to defend their Regent, the Boling-Lana Abdulai Mahamadu at all cost.
