The Vice- President, John Dramani Mahama, on Tuesday said that the “Better Ghana Agenda” promised by President Mills prior to his elections, is on course and will see the light of day.

The government’s ability to move Ghana to a middle-income status is a clear indication of an accelerated growth in the country’s economy, he added, and pointed out that given the massive improvement in the country’s economy, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) cannot equate their poor performance of their first four years in office to the three yearS of Mills-led administration .

The Vice-president was speaking at a youth forum organized by the Greater Accra youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the National Theatre in Accra.

The event attracted large sections of the party activists, faithfuls, loyalists and sympathizers.

Dubbed “Energizing the Youth for Victory 2012”, the event is the official declaration of intent by the NDC youth, that they are battle- ready to defend the party and protect the ballot box come December 2012.

Vice-President Mahama took time to explain to the gathering major social intervention programmes that have been embarked by the Mills government.

He enumerated some of the achievements of the NDC government for the past thirty-four months to include, free school uniforms, free exercise books, free text books, elimination of over 1000 schools under trees, completion of several health- care infrastructure nationwide, LESDEP, and many other social intervention programmes.

Amid cheers from the party supporters, Mr. Mahama chided the NPP, tagging its officials as trouble- makers pursuing a campaign laden with hypocrisy.

He wondered why Nana Akufo-Addo, on one hand, would be asking Ghanaians to dream big while on the other, would criticize government decision to go in for the $3billion Chinese loan for infrastructural development.

The Vice-President described the NPP as a desperate group of people looking for power just for the sake of it.

He alleged that in anticipating a loss in the 2012 election, the NPP had been nursing plans of plunging the country into bloodbath, and warned that Ghanaians must resist such tendencies.

The Vice- President said that the electorate must not encourage persons who might want to perpetrate mayhem during the elections.

To him, the claim by the NPP flagbearer that it will win 2012 at all cost is very dangerous and unacceptable, and asked Ghanaians to renew their faith in the Mills- led administration because it has the capacity to build a better Ghana.
