The Devil Is Not Chasing NPP

Sat, 8 Mar 2003 Source: Evening News

President Kufuor says the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has not been cursed by any evil forces in spite of the rampant accidents that have claimed the lives of its members. ''We are not being chased by any sinister force, God forbid,'' he added.

The President therefore urged Ghanaians to dispel the notion that the party was being chased by the devil. He was speaking at the Castle, Osu when the families of the late former MP for Gomoa East, Emmanuel Acheampong; the late Isaac Laryea Quarshie, former Gomoa East Constituency chairman of the NPP and the late Kofi Amissah, an NPP activist called on him to officially announce the death of their relatives. The three men died through a motor accident last month.

President Kufuor said the three men died while serving the nation and the party. He said the process through which the gallant men died was very painful and reminded the people that it could happen to anybody. ''Nobody knows how he will die, It is only God who knows,'' he said.

President Kufuor expressed the condolences of the government and NPP to the bereaved families of the deceased and gave the assurance that the party would assist in their burial and funeral rites.
