The Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Randy Abbey has categorically stated that, the Executive Council (EXCO) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is more important than the Presidency of the association.
The astute football administrator made this statement in an interview on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’. When asked why he did not contest for the GFA presidency by host, Ohene Bampoe Brenya, he said:
“I am not above the EXCO. The presidency is very important but I have stated this on a number of occasions, I think the EXCO is even more important.”
According to him, the EXCO in the past had not been assertive and this led to an era of ‘Yes men’ and ‘zombies’. He added that, if the importance and authority of the EXCO had been asserted in the past, the GFA could have prevented a lot of things that happened.
The Bankroller of Heart of Lions is contesting for a slot on the Executive Council of the GFA. The elections for the GFA EXCO positions is set to come off on 24th, 2019.
