The final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the queen mother of Asanteman, started on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace.

The funeral rites, which are known locally as Dote Yie, will go on for four days, ending on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Monday's rites saw almost all the traditional rulers of Asanteman, including Kwahumanhene Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, Mamponghene Abrempong, Effiduasehene Nana Adu Ameyaw II, and Ejurahene Barima Osei Hwedie II, as well as the king himself, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, all showing up to pay their solemn tributes to the late Asantehemaa.

As usual, the Asantehene's arrival was one of the eye-catching moments of the first day of his queen mother's Dote Yie. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II majestically rode on a palanquin to the funeral grounds.

After sitting in state, all the dignitaries at the event, including the queen mothers and paramount chiefs of Asanteman, came to pay homage to him.

One of the viral videos of the event captured the moment the Asantehene's wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, paid him homage.

The priests and priestesses of Asanteman stole the show on the first day of the funeral with their incantations, ritual dances, and unique appearance.

One of the beautiful moments of the event was when all the priests and priestesses, with their black and white painted faces, lined up to pay homage and pray for the Asantehene.
