J.K. MENSAH Rents Own House To Ghana Mission For $3000?

The Daily Post intelligence has uncovered a dubious deal, which smacks of conflict of interest involving Mr. J.K. Mensah, the former Director of the Research Department (the external intelligence wing), under the J.A. Kufuor administration.

Mr. Mensah, one of the most trusted members in Kufuor’s inner circle managed to rent a property believed to be owned by him or his son to the Ghana Embassy in the United States for $3000 per month.

According to our intelligence, Mr. Mensah, who was personally responsible for the posting of Research Department staff surreptitiously handpicked his protoge, Mr. Yaw Adu (an A3 officer) and posted him to the United States. While this is not unusual, what is alarming is how J.K. Mensah instructed the head of Research in the Ghana Embassy in Washington, to rent a particular accommodation for this officer.

Our intelligence checks revealed that the head of Research in Washington, who used to write and sign the cheque, normally sends through the post to J.K. Mensah’s son and at other times picks it by hand. Research Department staff, who spoke to our scouts, explained the dubiousness of the arrangement by J.K. Mensah. They contended that Mr. Adu, by his classification as an officer’ is a junior officer and do not deserve such an expensive accommodation.

What is emerging from the intelligence investigations is that Mr. J.K. Mensah sought to use a personal property to milk the Government of Ghana by charging such a ridiculously high rent. A clear conflict of interest has been established in that as the Director of Research at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is unethical to offer your personal property or those of your children to your own department staff.

Evidential proof of where the monthly cheque of $3000 is sent pointed to the residence of J.K. Mensah’s son at 20022 Coltsfoot Terrace, Ashburn Rd. Ashburn Virginia, 20147, U.S.A. While our intelligence managed to locate the residence of J.K. Mensah’s son, fresh evidence is being gathered to establish the ownership of another house in Rosemeadow, Gothersburg in Maryland.

The Daily Post intelligence sources have questioned the source of funds which could enable the former Director of Research to own such fleet of properties. They also mentioned a recent palatial mansion built by Mr. J.K. Mensah on the Spintex Road in Accra. What amazes the intelligence sources is that the former Director of Research, while constructing his multi-billion princely mansion at the blind side of Mr. J.A. Kufuor, he also managed to deviously allocate a security safe-house to the former President with the view to please him and divert attention from his vulgar expenditure, the sources of which are questionable.

It is also important to reveal the moves being made by J.K. Mensah to keep a tab on the operations at the Research Department. Our sources said he has been boasting of being responsible for the removal and transfer of certain officers by the new Security Bosses at the Blue Gate. As one of the intelligence sources stated, J.K. has been hobnobbing and trying very hard to establish a good rapport with some notable heavyweights in the new NDC administration with the view to cover his tracks and protect his purported loot when he presided over the rot at the Research Department. A casual investigation of the End-of-Service benefits (ESB) he allocated to himself could send shivers down the spine of many a Ghanaian. The ESB is so huge that it would need an articulated truck to convey it to the bank.
