Apostle Anthony Koblah Ahalivor, the Area Head for the Madina District of Church of Pentecost on Good Friday, declared that the church of Jesus Christ can never be stopped by the schemes of Satan.
This he said was because the builder of the church was Jesus Christ Himself, and that He has declared in His Word saying “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades”, (Revelation 1:17-18).
He stated that throughout history, all attempts by Satan to stop the church have never succeeded and would never succeed no matter what happens.
Apostle Ahalivor who made the declaration in his Good Friday message to the congregation at Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) at Atomic, said because of this truth Christians should not to be afraid of problems they may be facing in their lives, but to persevere, and hold on fast to their faith in Christ.
His sermon was on the theme chosen by PIWC for its Easter Convention, “…The gates of hades will not overcome it,” (Mat. 16:18).
He said the desire of Satan has been for mankind to become the enemy of God by disobeying God.
He noted that although Satan had launched several attacks against the church and succeeded in killing many Jews and Christians, the church has continued to grow stronger.
He explained that “the church is the body of Christ, the temple of God, the bride of Christ. It is both local and Universal, visible and invisible, it is an army of God, militant in nature,” hence the command to every believer to go out and preach the gospel once they are saved”.
The work of the church, he said was therefore to destroy the works of Satan, and that “nobody will be quiet when you destroy his work, and that is why we are see many challenges especially on the family system”.
He said “the devil is using those things to hit you hard to renounce your faith,” citing examples such as Job, Paul and Stephen in the Bible, who suffered greatly for their faith in Christ.
Apostle Ahalivor stated that suffering as a Christian does not make one a sinner, pointing out that the Church that Jesus built was a fighting one, and there would definitely be casualties, saying “you suffer because you belong to the church of Jesus Christ”.
Explaining why the day was considered as “Good,” Apostle Ahalivor said, the day then was considered as a dooms day by the Apostles and disciples, but said Christ’s crucifixion and death on the cross embodied the highest price an individual could pay for the love of humanity, which served as a turning-point for Christians to remain steadfast and prayerful.
He encouraged Christians and the entire population to hold on tight to their faith in Christ as the world has been predicted to become tougher than it is now, but urged that Ghanaians to emulate the love and passion demonstrated by Jesus Christ by his death on the cross.
