The church of Lord, Lighthouse, end 13-day fasting.

Apam (C/R), Aug. 24, GNA - The Church of Lord, Lighthouse, has held its annual 'Tabora,' which signified the end of a 13-day fasting at Apam.

It was aimed at seeking spiritual upliftment of members of the Church, prosperity of the Church and the state and peace for the nation. Seven branches of the Church, which broke away from the Church of Lord, Ghana also known as Aladura in 2001 over some changes the mother church effected in its doctrines took part in the Tabora. They were from Wassa Manso, New Takoradi and Sekondi Adiembra, all from Western Region, Yamoransa, Baifikrom and Apam from the Central Region and Kumasi Asafo from Ashanti Region.

Patriach Francis Ayiku, the leader of the Church called on religious leaders, politicians and the media to preach unity and peace. Patriach Ayiku expressed concern about certain events and utterances from some people, especially politicians and journalists, which could undermine unity of the people of the country.

He urged Ghanaians to place the interest of the nation first in whatever they say or do adding that events in our neighbouring countries should serve as an eye opener and guide us in whatever we do our say. Journalist should not publish things, which do not promote peace and unity.

In a welcoming address, Apostle Albert Kwesi Hackman, the leader of Apam branch of the Church urged the members to help propagate the message by opening more branches of the Church.

He said three branches of the mother Church have applied to join new branch and said their application was receiving attention. Rev. Essandoh Bruce, a leading pastor of the Church took the congregation though the HIV/AIDS pandemic, its mode of infection, its prevention and management and cautioned them to refrain from sexual promiscuity.

He exhorted them to treat people living with the disease with compassion but not as outcasts.
