The Minority Leader in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson, has dispelled claims from certain factions suggesting that there is division in the north regarding which candidate to endorse ahead of the December polls.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV’s Election Desk during the NDC campaign launch in Tamale on July 27, Ato Forson, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam, stated that the huge turnout at the NDC campaign launch demonstrated unity and a commitment to support John Mahama, indicating that there are no divisions among the indigenes of the north.

There was a public perception that voters in the north were divided over which candidate to vote for in December, given that both John Mahama and Dr. Bawumia hail from the region.

However, Ato Forson dismissed such perceptions, saying, “Look at the crowd carefully, do you see a split crowd? I do not see so. I do not see a crowd from the people of the Northern Region split between the NPP and the NDC. I see a crowd united in their numbers to support President Mahama and the NDC parliamentary candidate,” he asserted.

Ato Forson reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to securing maximum votes in December.

“We will do whatever it takes to galvanize the votes, protect the votes, and ensure the NDC will secure what the people decide to give them. That is a given, we will do whatever we have to do,” he assured.
