Ghanaian legend Abedi Ayew Pele has expressed optimism about the revival of Ghanaian football after witnessing the Black Galaxies in action.
On Thursday, December 5, 2024, Abedi supervised his team, Nania FC, as they faced the Black Galaxies at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The match was part of the Black Galaxies' preparations for the CHAN qualifiers.
With various national teams underperforming on the international stage—most notably the Black Stars failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations—many fans believe Ghana's resurgence may take some time.
Despite these concerns, the three-time African Best Player winner sees hope in the passion and commitment of the Black Galaxies' players.
“It has been a great pleasure for me to have the honor to play against you. What I have discovered is that you have a very good team—strong physically, technically skilled, and wonderful,” he told the players after the match.
“For me, the future is in the making. The future of Ghana football is in the making. The reason is that when you are born in this country and you are playing for the national team, the bond, the hunger to succeed, the courage, and the determination are paramount,” he added.
Ghana is set to face Nigeria in the first leg of the 2025 CHAN qualifiers on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium. The return leg is scheduled to take place in Nigeria between December 27 and December 29, 2024.
