Koku Anyidoho, a former deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has offered his perspective on the recent confirmation of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the 2024 elections.

Taking to Twitter, Anyidoho posted a picture of Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, alongside that of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the NDC's running mate.

In his post, he underscored the contrasts between the two political figures and their respective affiliations.

“The game is on now; we shall begin to use the measuring tape. NAPO has NEVER shied away from his NPP tradition & is well-steeped in the philosophy of his party. Our mother on occasions has said she is not NDC until very recently so not well-steeped in the ethos of the party,” he said.

The National Council of the NPP officially endorsed Dr. Prempeh on Thursday, July 4, 2024. This decision has sparked a significant amount of discussion online, with many drawing comparisons between NAPO and Professor Opoku-Agyemang.

Both figures have previously served as Education Ministers, a role that has now become a key point of comparison in evaluating their respective track records and capabilities.
