Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate, has observed that Ghanaians from all walks of life are ready to elect a new government come election day, as a result of the unprecedented incompetence and corruption of the current John Mahama government and the acute hardships it has occasioned.

Dr. Bawumia made these comments in Sempoa, in the Abetifi Constituency of the Eastern region on Wednesday. Dr. Bawumia was in the constituency to join the NPP campaign, ahead of Saturday’s Abetifi by-election.

“All across Ghana, the wind of change is blowing, almost everyone in Ghana wants change now and this is due to the hardships we are all witnessing today. The Edey be keke promise, has turned into a reality of hardships.

Today we cannot buy fertilizers, we cannot pay our electricity bills or school fees of our children. There are no jobs for our youth to also do. It is hardships all over. And this is why we are seeking change today”, he said.

Touting the attributes of the NPP’s candidate for the constituency, Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Bawumia noted that Bryan is a unifier and someone who would bring development to the whole constituency without discrimination.

Touching on the bigger battle ahead after the by-election, Dr. Bawumia noted that since 1992, the people of Sempoa had voted for the NDC, but that this loyalty to the NDC had not translated into an improvement in the lives and living conditions of the people in Sempoa. He urged the people to therefore come on board the change train and vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP come November or December 7th.

“We know Sempoa has voted for the NDC since 1992 but this Saturday and come November or December 7th, we are confident that you will vote for the NPP because you also want to see development in Sempoa. The NPP with your support is coming to fix our broken economy, restore the allowances of teacher trainees and nursing trainees, transform and grow agriculture including fishing and to work for all Ghanaians”, he said.
