Former Ghanaian boxer Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, has explained his decision not to venture into coaching after hanging up his gloves.
Bukom Banku explained in an interview with Game TV that the current generation of boxers holds no respect for him.
Bukom Banku disclosed that his efforts to correct the weaknesses of young boxers usually end in disagreement.
According to Banku, the young boxers always refer to his defeat by Bastie Samir to discourage him from correcting them.
“The current boxers don't respect me. I have more knowledge and experience in boxing than them, but they don't respect me. When I spot mistakes and tell them, they hit back at me. When I advise them, they remind me that Bastie defeated me, so I should keep quiet,” he said.
Bukom Banku was in the news recently when he stated that he never sought spiritual protection or any form of medicine for success in his boxing career.
“Who can claim they gave me medicine [juju] to support my superstar status? I don't like that. It's only God I know,” Bukom Banku said in a video shared by blogger Sammykaymedia on Instagram on August 14, 2024.
He also clarified that he does not engage in criticizing people on social media, unlike some other famous personalities in the country.
“I don't talk about people's issues on social media because every woman is my mother and every man is my father. I love everybody in this nation,” the boxer added.
