Former Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, has reacted to assertions that he must be arrested and prosecuted by the John Dramani Mahama government for allegedly engaging in corrupt activities while in office.

Speaking in a viral video clip from a recent campaign activity, the former minister, who served for over seven years in the NPP government led by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, said that he is strong despite the many bad things people wished for him.

He said that he is still a freeman despite assertions that he would be locked up by the new government.

“I’m not that desperate; I have not been crying for help. Some people said either I would fall sick or die, but here I stand. Some said I would be arrested and locked up. A year has passed, and here I stand.

“In this world, if you are truthful… not every person would like what you are doing. No matter what you do, you would certainly step on someone’s foot. But when you step on someone’s foot, and you apologise, and the person accepts, great,” he said.

Kwaku Agyemang-Manu was tipped to face prosecution for signing a contract for COVID-19 vaccines without parliamentary approval.

He is reported to have admitted to failing to seek cabinet approval before engaging a private individual for the procurement of Sputnik V vaccines to manage Ghana's COVID-19 cases.
