Majority Leader in Parliament and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has said Ghana’s economy was one of the fastest growing economies in the world-beating fast developed nations like China in the year 2017, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

The legislature’s comment comes as a response to the minority in parliament who have on numerous occasions criticized the Akufo-Addo led government as not being competent enough to manage the economy of Ghana they claim is not doing well.

The BBC in January this year reported that China’s economy grew by 6.8% in 2017 alone.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s economy grew by 8.5% in the year 2017 meaning it was indeed far better than that of the world economy giant China and many other countries.

However, most Ghanaians have said the rate of the economy’s growth does not reflect in their pocket hence Nana Addo’s government must stop telling people about things like that and focus on bettering their lives by ensuring there is enough money to spend.

Analysing the economy of Ghana, Mr. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu noted that, the NPP government has done tremendously well hence people must applaud the current administration adding it has also been able to reduce interest rates on bank loans from 34, 35% to anything between 23%.

“What it means is that, things are getting better for Ghanaians. The country is developing” he added.

General Secretary of the NPP Mr, John Boadu is also assuring Ghanaians that more good is coming as the government gets set to exit the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program after just two years and that this year’s Christmas gives Ghanaians more reasons for joy and celebration.

According to him, government work so far “Certainly” gives Ghanaians “everything to celebrate in this festive season and beyond”

“Christianity teaches us that today is not just a day for celebration. We should therefore not forget of the plight of our underprivileged brothers and sisters,” he explained.
