Mampong (Ash), Sept 17, GNA -Thirty people including two males last Friday passed out at the Gratson Training Centre at Asante-Mampong after three-month training under the Skills Training and Employment Programme (STEP) of the government.
The trainees who received intensive training in soap and pomade preparation, batik tie and dye mounted an exhibition at the passing out ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, Sekyere West District Chief Executive, asked them to form co-operatives to avail themselves of opportunities at the financial institutions. In an address read on his behalf, he urged the beneficiaries to make very good use of what they had learnt so that they would reap the benefits.
Mr Peter A. Sarkodie, the Mampong NPP parliamentary candidate, noted that the dignity of a human being was tied closely to work and therefore challenged the people to elevate themselves by working very hard.
Miss Grace Dentsil, the Proprietress of the Centre, said they were very well prepared to be self-employed and employ others as well. She expressed appreciation to the Sekyere West District assembly for financing the running of the programme to perfection.
