Thousands of jobless youths in Ghana have stormed the principal streets of Accra to protest the escalating job deficits in the country.

The demonstration was organised by the Economic Fighters League, a group of unemployed youths to coerce the NPP government to fulfil its promise of job creation during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

Some irate youth who spoke to Asempanews.com on the sidelines of the march lamented how they are struggling to survive on empty pockets despite their academic qualifications.

“I have been home since 2014 and I have done everything possible to get a job but I have not been successful,” one of the jobless youths said.

Another jobless graduate said, “government has said they had created over 10 million jobs but where are the jobs…we want the government to come to our aid because we are suffering.”

The thousands of unemployed youth are thus calling on government to embark on a massive job creation move to salvage the situation which is spiralling out of control.
