Tema, July 5, GNA -- The Tema Community Tribunal on Monday imposed a total fine of 300,000 cedis on three caddies, who operate at the Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono, for aiding and abetting and stealing. Felix Kekemey Ocansey, a Tailor, Yaw Mintah, a fridge repairer and Bismark Sorgbordzor, factory hand, pleaded guilty and would each go to prison for three months if they failed to pay their 100,000 cedis fine.

The tribunal chaired by Captain Philip Agboyomey, (rtd) granted a 200,000 cedis bail to Ebenezer Adablanu, House Officer and Victor Brave Mensah, Professional Golfer, who pleaded not guilty to the charge of dishonestly receiving.

Chief Inspector Margaret Nunoo, prosecuting, told the tribunal that about four months ago, a wooden golf stick was stolen from the Golf Club and all efforts made to retrieve it proved futile.

However, on May 30, at about 13:45 the complainant detected that two of his golf sticks had been stolen and he suspected that Mintah had taken them.

The Prosecution said the complainant made his own investigations and found that the two golf sticks were in the custody of the Tema County Golf Club, and therefore reported the case to the Police.

She said Police investigations revealed that Ocansey stole the first stick, while Mintah stole other two and after the theft, Sorgbordzor found a ready market after he had negotiated with Adablanu, House Officer of the Tema County Golf Club, and Mensah, a Professional Golfer.
