Kroboase, (W/R), Nov.11, GNA - The Wassa West District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel K Ayensu has inaugurated three development projects estimated at about one billion cedis for three communities within the district.
The projects are, a six unit classroom block with an office and a store, a library and toilet facility for the Kroboase D/C primary school at Kroboase, a farming community near Tarkwa. The other is a market with 48 sheds at Cyanide, a suburb of Tarkwa and a 16 seater-aquah-privy toilet facility at Wassa Nkran another farming community near Tarkwa.
Inaugurating the projects, Mr Ayensu advised the people of Kroboase to take advantage of the Government's Capitation grant and send children of school going age to school especially the girl child. He said women were playing important roles in the development of the nation therefore, denying the girl-child education would impact negatively on the nation's development.
"Educating the girl child is important because of the roles women play in the society and giving them some form of formal education will enable them perform better in their chosen professions," he added. The DCE promised to rehabilitate the only road linking Kroboase community to Bonsa to enable teachers accept postings to the area. He urged them to take good care of teachers posted to the school. Mr. Adu Bonah, headteacher of the school, said the new school block had encouraged enrolment in the school. He said the school's population of 64 had increased to 200. Mr. Bonah said the school established 17 years ago in a bamboo shed, had to close down anytime it rained and the new block was a relief to parents and teachers.
He appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the District Assembly to post teachers to the school to improve academic work because it had teacher's quarters and potable water. Nana Francis K. Buah, Chief of Wassa Nkran appealed to the assembly to construct an additional place of convenience for the town to accommodate the increasing population. He asked for new school blocks for the primary and JSS now in deplorable condition, and in addition; the assembly expedite work on the road linking Kroboase to Tarkwa and Aboso.
