Gomoa (C/R), Oct. 5, GNA - Three enumerators in the on-going National Population and Housing Census (PHC) in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, have absconded with GH¢600 and materials for the exercise.

They are Cynthia Pamford, Samuel Otabil Adu and Bernard Saah. The three were said to have absconded with the money which covers transportation allowances for field enumerators and supervisors and materials for the exercise.

Mr Patrick Adzovor, Gomoa East District Census Officer, disclosed this in an interview with Ghana News Agency on Tuesday in Gomoa Afransi. He said meanwhile Saah, had refunded GH¢150 out of his GH¢200 with a promise to pay the rest later. He is also yet to return the materials.

The other two, Pamford and Adu, were said to have switched-off their mobile phones and therefore they could not be reached and or traced.

Mr Adzovor noted the Ghana Statistical Service had warned that anyone, who would refuse to take part in the exercise after the training, except on health grounds, would be made to refund their monies and any other resources given to them.

He said the two were being sort for and when caught they would be prosecuted. On the issue of shortage of materials, he appealed to the general public to be patient as Government was doing everything possible to ensure enough material supply to Census officers. Mr Adzovor urged the public to give the field enumerators their maximum cooperation.
