Three children under the ages of six have died after a fire ravaged their house at Bibiani in the Western North Region.
It is unclear what caused the fire outbreak on Wednesday night.
A family member, Ebenezer White told Kasapa FM’s Akwasi Nsiah that the fire started at the time the children and their mother were deep asleep and only got to know the building was on fire when she smelled smoke and felt intense heat in the room.
“When the mother tried to open the door and evacuate the kids, she was stopped by the huge fire that had also consumed the hall and was entering the bedroom. So she was unable to escape with them, she then decided to daringly force her way through the fire and shout for help. By the time she got help to fight the fire the all three kids had sadly been burnt to death.”
“The incident happened when their father had left for work. The kids had told their father who works at a hotel that they wanted to go to work with him that evening, but he declined and asked them to sleep because it was late. He got to hear his kids had died while in the office.”
The body of the deceased have been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital, while the woman has been referred to a clinical psychologist to counsel her.
