Three remanded over alleged attack on Obuasi SHS headmaster

The Obuasi Circuit Court has remanded three men in connection with an alleged assault and destruction of property at the Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHS).

Kwasi Brefo, also known as Allah, Appiah Arthur Joseph, alias Nana Appiah, and Desmond Owusu have been charged with abetment in relation to causing harm and unlawful damage.

The court has adjourned the case to August 17, 2026.

The prosecution alleges that the three suspects assisted other individuals who are currently at large to attack the school’s headmaster, Abdul Zakari, with cutlasses and sticks.

They are also accused of facilitating the destruction of property during the incident.

The alleged attack occurred on August 5, 2026, following unrest at the school.

The prosecution says tensions escalated after some students made allegations against the headmaster, including claims of involvement in ritual activities and inappropriate relationships with female students.

The allegations have not been established in court.

The three accused persons will remain in custody until their next court appearance as investigations continue.
